FOXBORO -- Josh Gordon wasn't the only wide receiver missing from the start of Patriots practice Thursday, so was Cordarrelle Patterson.

This is the first missed practice of the year for Patterson, while Gordon announced on Twitter Thursday morning he's stepping away from football to focus on his mental health and there was also a report he's facing another suspension from the NFL.

It was also noteworthy that Matthew Slater was with the receivers at the start of the session, which he usually is not.

More will be known on Patterson once the injury report is released later in the afternoon.

New England will practice Friday before hosting the Bills Sunday.
