FOXBORO -- Danny Amendola has been a member of the Patriots since 2013 and in those five seasons, he's earned a nickname Danny ‘Playoff’ Amendola, according to Rob Gronkowski.

The 32-year-old lived up to the name Saturday night in the Patriots' 35-14 win over the Titans to advance to the AFC title game.

Amendola finished the game with 11 catches on 13 targets for a team-high 112 yards. The 11 catches were the most he's had in his career as a member of the Patriots and also were the second-most catches in a playoff game in Patriots franchise history. In addition, five of the Patriots’ 11 third-down conversions were to Amendola.

“We have a lot of good football players in this locker room, and we all played well enough to win tonight." he said.

While Amendola didn't have much to say about himself personally, his teammates did.

″[As a] mentally and physically tough football player, in 10 years of football I’d put him up there with anybody,” special teams captain Matthew Slater said. “The guy just wills himself to find a way to make plays. In those clutch moments, he’s not afraid of the moment. And it’s not by accident. He prepares himself all week to go out there and compete at a high level and make plays for this football team. There’s something about guys in this league that can’t be measured, and that’s their heart. When I think about Danny Amendola, he’s all heart. He’s a warrior.”

Added Tom Brady: "I thought he played incredible. He made a lot of great catches. Those third downs were huge today."

Amendola seems to come alive in the postseason and takes his game to a new level. In 11 postseason games, he has 42 receptions for 473 yards and four touchdowns.

“Look, you get in these tough situations, the season’s on the line every week you come out in the postseason. You want to be out there going to your most dependable players,” said Slater. “Can you think of a guy that’s been more dependable since he got here?”
