The Danny Amendola era in Miami didn't last long.

According to the team, Amendola has been released by the Dolphins and is now a free agent.

Obviously, many in New England are trying to connect the dots for a possible reunion with Tom Brady and Co., but it seems like a long shot. The Patriots certainly need receivers, but they need more than just Amendola and also need to start to get younger at the position. It's also worth noting how things ended in New England, and that could be a deterrent from Bill Belichick bringing him back.

In 15 games with the Dolphins last year, Amendola had 59 receptions for 575 yards and a touchdown.

As for a potential landing spot, keep an eye on the Jets and a reunion with his coach in Miami, Adam Gase.
