There will not be a return to New England for Danny Amendola.

According to multiple reports, Amendola plans on signing with the Lions and reuniting with Matt Patricia. The slot receiver will fit in nicely with the Detroit offense and will have a $4.5 million guaranteed base salary with incentives that have him able to make up to $5.75 million. This is a great deal for the 33-year-old.

Amendola was released by Miami following one season last Friday and many tried to connect the dots for a return to New England, and while Jeff Howe of The Athletic reported mutual interest Sunday night, the Patriots would never have paid him that salary.

The Patriots will still certainly be in the mix for mostly all receivers that become available over the next several days.
