Although he didn't outwardly show his competitiveness too much in New England, it was clear Danny Amendola takes the game of football very seriously.

It didn't take the Dolphins long to figure that out, as Amendola's passion was on full display at the second day of OTAs Wednesday.

According to Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel, on one play Amendola was stripped by linebacker Terence Garvin after catching a first-down pass from quarterback Ryan Tannehill and the defense recovered. After the play, Amendola was heard yelling obscenities at himself and also threw his helmet on the sidelines out of frustration.

Then, after Tannehill nearly threw an interception when cornerback Bobby McCain jumped a route, Amendola was upset with himself again, tossing his helmet aside for a second time.

“He’s a competitor. A perfectionist,” head coach Adam Gase said. “He’s going to compete whether its Day Two of OTAs, or Phase Two in the weight room. That’s just how he’s been. He’s the guy that beat the odds because he was told he’d never play in the NFL.”

Amendola is coming off one of his best seasons as he finished 2017 with 61 receptions for 659 yards before signing with Miami in March.
