According to a spokesman for the Public Ministry of Santo Domingo Este, which is prosecuting the David Ortiz shooting case, Eddy Vladimir Féliz García will be charged with accomplice to attempted murder.

But, speaking to Maria Cramer of the Boston Globe, Justina García believes her son is innocent.

“The whole world is against him,” she said.

García added: “He is innocent. Please investigate this fully. Don’t accuse this innocent man.”

His lawyer claims his client is a motorcycle taxi driver and on Sunday night he picked up a fare in "good faith" and then the man ended up by shooting Ortiz.

“He is David Ortiz’s No. 1 fan,” Deivi Solano, García's lawyer, said. “Since [Ortiz] won the World Series in 2004, he has cut out articles and pictures of Ortiz and put them on his walls.”

It's unclear when Garcia will appear before the Ministry of the Interior.

The shooting suspect apparently is still at large.
