It was evident the Patriots had too many wide receivers on their roster following the addition of Antonio Brown this weekend, and the team did something about it Tuesday.

Listen to your team news NOW.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team has traded Demaryius Thomas to the Jets in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round pick.

This is the first time Bill Belichick has ever made a trade with the Jets, meaning he's now traded with every NFL team.

Thomas was inactive Sunday night against the Steelers due to a hamstring injury. He's also coming off an Achilles injury suffered last December, but looked very good in the Patriots' final preseason game last month. He was signed by the team late in the offseason and according to him, they were the only team to show any interest.

The Patriots now have a wide receivers depth chart of Julian Edelman, Brown, Josh Gordon, Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski. Meanwhile, N'Keal Harry and Cam Meredith are on IR and PUP respectively.

New England will face the Dolphins in Miami on Sunday.
