FOXBORO -- There's another Rutgers product in the Patriots locker room -- wide receiver Kenny Britt.

The Patriots signed the wide receiver on Wednesday following his release from the Browns last week. Britt played nine games this season with the Browns, tallying 18 catches for 233 yards and two touchdowns. That marked a big drop off from his career season in 2016 with the Rams, when he hauled in 68 receptions for 1,002 yards and five touchdowns.

Safety Devin McCourty is excited to have him on the team.

"He’s a Rutgers guy. Do we need to expand on that? We know what that means," he said.

Added McCourty: "He’s a good guy, a joy to be around, always upbeat, always smiling ear-to-ear, a physical guy, obviously big-bodied guy. You know, I’m excited for him – the opportunity to come here and try to catch on. Obviously, it’s tough coming in at this point in the year, just trying to learn as much as possible and get out there. It’s always exciting to have a guy you played with in college as a teammate in the NFL."

There's a chance Britt could be active Sunday against the Steelers, as if he can learn the offense he would give Tom Brady another option to throw to outside the numbers.
