FOXBORO -- Although the media only was able to view the stretching and individual drill portion of Patriots practice, there was some newsworthy notes coming from who was present and not present.

-- Dont'a Hightower was present and participating, meaning he's off PUP. This is a great sign when it comes to his availability for Week 1.

-- The players missing were: Matthew Slater, Malcolm Mitchell, Rex Burkhead, Shea McClellin, Tony Garcia, Andrew Jelks (NFI), Matt Lengel and Derek Rivers. Deatrich Wise and Geneo Grissom left before individual drills. The notables from this list are Mitchell and Burkhead. Mitchell appeared to be grabbing his knee after several plays in last Saturday's game against the Texans. Burkhead didn't appear to get hurt and spoke in the locker room Monday. It's unclear why he was absent.

-- Nate Solder returned after missing over week, which is a good sign as well considering the depth at left tackle.

-- Elandon Roberts and Brandon King wore red, non-contact jerseys.

The team will practice again Wednesday before traveling to Detroit for a walkthrough Thursday and the game Friday night.
