FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots play the Chiefs on Sunday and yet there's still no kicker on the roster.

Listen to your team news NOW.

But, the situation does appear to be getting some clairty.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Nick Folk is going to kick Friday to see how he feels a week after needed an appendectomy. The veteran was cut last week to make room for Kai Forbath to get on the roster. At his press conference Friday morning, Bill Belichick said he did not have an announcement to make regarding the position.

Forbath kicked last Sunday against Houston, missing one extra point that was pushed back five yards due to a penalty.

If Folk makes it through the workout OK, then he will kick Sunday. If not, the Patriots would have to find someone else, but given it is so late in the week, it would not be a complete shock for the team to bring Forbath back for one more game and then add Folk next week once he's healthy enough to kick.

Typically in these instances, the team tells players to remain in the area so they can quickly be brought back. Going into the game without a kicker does not seem something Belichick and the team would ever do.

New England has until 4 p.m. Saturday to add a kicker to the roster, and a corresponding move would need to be made.
