If the Celtics make a deep run during the NBA's restart this summer, some games may be without Gordon Hayward.

Speaking on a Zoom call with reporters Friday, Hayward said he will leave the NBA's bubble when his wife goes into labor with their fourth child. She is due in September, which would be during the Eastern Conference Finals if the Celtics were to advance that far, as that is scheduled to begin Sept. 11.

"That's a pretty easy decision for me on that," he said. "I've been there for the birth of all my children."

Hayward said he will return afterwards, but he would be subject to the NBA's protocol for quarantining once returning (as few as four days).

This would be a big blow to the Celtics if it were to happen, but of course understandable.

Hayward is averaging 17.3 points per game this season.
