For a second time, the Texans are trying to get Nick Caserio to leave the Patriots.

After getting permission denied over a year ago to speak to him about their general manager opening, the Texans have formally requested to interview him again after Brian Gaine was fired last Friday, according to the Houston Chronicle's John McClain.

The report adds he is their first choice for the job, as he is very close with head coach Bill O'Brien and also new executive Jack Easterby, who left the Patriots this offseason.

It does get interesting as the Patriots were able to block Caserio from interviewing before because the Patriots were still playing. Now, technically because Caserio would be getting a promotion it would be hard for the Patriots to block a request, unless they change Caserio's official title/role.

Houston reportedly has already interviewed two candidates, both former general managers — Ray Farmer at Cleveland and Martin Mayhew at Detroit.
