Even though Malcolm Butler likely won't be playing for the Patriots next season, he could still be in the AFC East.

According to Calvin Watkins of Newsday, the Jets will look into signing Butler as an unrestricted free agent, but he notes as always, their interest will depend on price.

It's unclear what the market will be for the 27-year-old after a down 2017 season, which ended with him being benched in the Super Bowl.

Although it was a down year for him, appearing on ESPN's NFL Live, DeAngelo Williams pegged Butler as the NFL's No. 1 defensive free agent.

“You are my No. 1," he said. "I cannot believe you didn’t play in the Super Bowl. I am pissed off because I know if you had been [in the game], you would have made a difference. You would have made a difference. You’re No. 1 on my list because you are going to be the highest-paid player out of all [the defensive free agents] because you know what it takes to win.”

Free agency kicks off with the legal tampering period March 12.
