It's official, Jimmy Garoppolo is done for the year.

The 49ers announced on Monday that an MRI confirmed Garoppolo did indeed suffer a torn ACL in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Garoppolo suffered the injury while trying to make a play late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. On a run around the edge, his knee bent the wrong way before taking a huge hit. He was carted to the locker room and afterwards the 49ers feared the worst, which was confirmed Monday.

Tom Brady addressed the news Monday on Kirk & Callahan.

“I feel terrible for him,” Brady said. “It’s a tough injury. I feel bad for Jimmy, and it's football. Things happen like that. I've been through an ACL. It just sucks. You hate to see people go down, and [Jimmy] is someone I really like and have been friends with since the day he got here. It just sucks to have to go through that.”

Of course, Brady suffered a torn ACL himself in 2008.
