Predicting Patriots inactives: Josh Gordon reportedly 'no sure thing' to play vs. Lions

DETROIT -- The Patriots don't have as many game-day decisions when it comes to inactive players because several of them have already been made. The team needs to make seven players inactive, and it has already ruled out four players, so three of them remain.

The biggest question is whether or not new wide receiver Josh Gordon plays. According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the receiver is "no sure thing" to be active. He will test his hamstring before the game and the team is preparing scenarios that have him on the field and don't have him on the field. In the end, we expect him to be active, which will likely be just for limited packages.

Here's who we predict will be inactive Sunday night against the Lions.

TE Jacob Hollister -- The tight end was ruled out on Friday with a chest injury suffered in practice on Thursday. Hollister reportedly isn't expected to be out long-term, but it continues a trend of him battling injuries. He missed Week 1 with a hamstring injury.

DE Trey Flowers -- Flowers was downgraded to out Saturday night due to a concussion and did not make the trip. This isn't much of a surprise as he didn't practice all week. There is no timetable for his return, although it was worth noting he was present in the locker room much of the week.

S Patrick Chung -- Like Flowers, Chung was also downgraded to out Saturday night because of a concussion. The same thing goes for him, as there's no timetable for his return, but he was in the locker room during the week.

CB Eric Rowe -- It was a surprise to see him not make the trip and be downgraded to out Saturday night. Although, he was listed as questionable with a groin injury. Rowe was benched last week against the Jaguars, but maybe the groin injury was part of the decision.

OL Brian Schwenke -- He's been inactive in each of the first two games this season and we see no reason why it would be different again.

OL Cole Croston -- Marcus Cannon is expected to be active, which means there's no need for Croston to be active with LaAdrian Waddle serving as the swing tackle.

CB Keion Crossen -- With Rowe out, another corner will be active and it's between rookies Crossen and Jackson. Crossen is questionable with a hamstring injury, so we're giving the nod to Jackson. There's a chance both could be active, but with Cyrus Jones on the roster that would be too many cornerbacks.
