It appears Josh McDaniels' decision to back out of taking the Colts' job didn't have anything to do with money.

According to Good Morning Football's Peter Schrager when appearing on NFL Network Tuesday night, McDaniels would have been one of the highest-paid coaches in the league with the Colts. He said it wouldn't have approached Bill Belichick or Jon Gruden level money, but it was still a significant amount.

Schrager added McDaniels is interested in the best situation for his family, and that situation is in New England, not Indianapolis.

Earlier, ESPN reported the Krafts had "sweetened" McDaniels' contract, which played a role in him staying with the Patriots.
