FOXBOROUGH -- For the first time all year, Julian Edelman wasn't present at the start of Patriots practice.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Edelman along with defensive tackle Byron Cowart (head) were not spotted at the start of the session held on the lower grass fields behind Gillette Stadium. Edelman has been on the injury report virtually all season, most recently with a shoulder injury. He was limping late in the game Sunday, did not speak afterwards, and had a staffer retrieve his belongings from his locker on Monday.

Center Ted Karras (knee) returned after not practicing or playing all last week.

There were also three new members of the practice squad -- Nos. 5, 35 and 45. ESPN's Field Yates is reporting No. 5 is kicker Josh Gable. Gable is most known as the YouTube "trick shot" kicker.

The Patriots will practice Thursday and Friday before traveling to Cincinnati for the game Sunday.
