Julian Edelman on touchdown spike: 'I’m just a fiery guy, I guess'

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Going into Sunday's game against the Jets, Julian Edelman only had one career touchdown against them in 13 career games.

That changed in the third quarter when Edelman was able to scamper through several Jets defenders for a 21-yard touchdown reception to snap a 13-13 tie in the Patriots' 27-13 win over the Jets.

Edelman followed the score with his best Rob Gronkowski impersonation -- a huge spike.

“[The] euphoria you get when you score is always high. I’m just a fiery guy, I guess," he said.

The 32-year-old finished the game with four catches for 84 yards and the touchdown.

It was also the return of Gronkowski after he missed three out of the last four games with nagging ankle and back injuries. He gave the offense a huge boost with the first touchdown of the game.

"He's the Gronk," Edelman said. "It's always good to have him back. He looked like he was having fun and that's awesome. That's what we want."

Just having him on the field is able to make the entire offense better because of the attention he attracts.

“Definitely," Edelman said. "There’s a lot of eyes going to him. He’s probably the best tight end ever to suit up. Anytime he's on the field he is going to attract attention and it helps everyone."

The win moves the Patriots to 8-3 on the year and was a good bounce-back game after getting blown out the week prior to the bye against the Titans. But, while the win was nice, Edelman is already on to the next game.

"We have Minnesota next and you turn the page, whether it is a win or loss," he said. "Obviously, the taste in your mouth is a little better right now, but it is the NFL and it is on to the next one."
