FOXBORO -- Wednesday was the deadline for Malcolm Mitchell to be activated to the 53-man roster and it doesn't look like it will be happening.

Mitchell was not spotted at the start of practice, which indicates he will not play this season. He's been on injured reserve all season with a knee injury, but returned to practice in Week 17 as he was the second of two players designated to return off IR.

Also missing from the session was cornerback Jonathan Jones. He suffered what looked like a foot/ankle injury in the closing minutes of the divisional round win over the Titans. There was a new No. 17, which could be Bernard Reedy, and that would indicate a practice squad player has been promoted to the active roster. The corresponding move could be placing Jones on injured reserve.

LaAdrian Waddle, who left Saturday's game with a knee injury, was present, but was riding a stationary bike as the rest of the team stretched.

Stay tuned, as more information will come out as the day goes on.
