FOXBORO — The Patriots held their fifth training camp practice of the summer Monday night, which was their in-stadium practice open to season ticket holders and Foxboro residents.

The session was held in just helmets and shorts and was the most laid back session thus far with a heavy emphasis on special teams.

Who didn’t practice: Malcolm Mitchell, Jonathan Jones (PUP), Cyrus Jones (PUP), Nate Ebner (PUP), Kenny Britt (PUP),  Matthew Slater (PUP), Keion Crossen, Jordan Matthews, Mike Gillislee, Shane Wimann

Who returned: None

Who was injured during session: None

Play of the day: Danny Etling connected with Devin Lucien for a roughly 50-yard touchdown. Easily Etling's best throw of camp.

Here are some quick observations from the session.

— After four straight days of practice on the grass fields behind the stadium, the team went inside the stadium Monday night. It was their only chance to work inside the stadium before the first preseason game Aug. 9. One notable change is new lights were installed in the offseason.

— The first full team work saw work along the goal-line with Tom Brady and the first team offense getting the majority of the reps. Brady targeted Rob Gronkowski twice, but had two incompletions. One was deflected by Eric Rowe and the other along the back end zone line was behind him.

— Trent Brown continues to be the leader in the clubhouse to replace Nate Solder at left tackle.

— A good chunk of time was devoted to kickoffs and kick returns. Cordarrelle Patterson was the main returner with Riley McCarron and Braxton Berrios seeing reps as well.

— Monday was the first extensive work Ryan Allen and Corey Bojorquez had against one another. The two kicked mostly directional punts with no one player standing out more than the other. This appears to be a competition that will come down to the week before the regular season.

— Punt returners included Julian Edelman, Berrios, McCarron, Rex Burkhead, Patrick Chung and Chris Hogan. Burkhead was a new addition to the bunch.

— Brady was picked off by Ryan Lewis on a deep-ball intended for Patterson. He also had a nice deflection on a Brian Hoyer throw intended for Edelman.

-- Aside from Etling's connection with Lucien, it was another tough session for the rookie out of LSU. He struggled with reads and throws. It remains an uphill climb for him to make the roster.

-- Brady found Phillip Dorsett for a 50-yard touchdown when the receiver got well behind the defense.

— At one point, Bill Belichick spent a few minutes working 1-on-1 with Malcom Brown. The defensive tackle is in the final year of his contract.

— Robert Kraft came onto the field at one point and spoke with Ernie Adams for awhile. After that, he spoke with Belichick for a long time, roughly 10-15 minutes. Later on, Kraft spent some time with Julian Edelman.

-- The team will get their first day off of camp on Tuesday.
