FOXBORO -- Like most of the region, Bill Belichick seems to really like this year's Red Sox team.

The coach and longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday took in Sunday's thrilling Red Sox-Yankees game by sitting in a suite with Tony La Russa and Dave Dombrowski.

Speaking Tuesday at Gillette Stadium, Belichick offered praise not only to Dombrowski, but the entire Red Sox organization.

"We have some mutual friends," he said of his relationship with Dombrowski. "I mean, Dave’s done a great job, doing a great job. What a game that was Sunday. What a team they have. I marvel at the way they compete and how consistent they’ve been, how many people have contributed, just the overall organization – Tony [La Russa], Alex [Cora], their scouting staff. You know, we have a good relationship with those people and they’ve been great to us. They provided us with a great experience in June for our football team. So, I wish the Red Sox nothing but the best, not that they need any help from me. They seem to be doing just fine."

Belichick has always supported the local teams and has had great relationships with the coaches as well.
