The biggest story on Monday was the Patriots trading for wide receiver Josh Gordon in a deal with the Browns.

Prior to Bill Belichick joining Ordway, Merloni & Fauria for his weekly appearance, both teams announced the deal via press releases. Even though that happened, Belichick wasn't comfortable speaking about Gordon until the trade was official in his mind.

“Yeah, well, at this point I can’t comment on anything until whatever we do is official," he said. "I just can’t make any comment on that right now.”

At that point Belichick was told both the Patriots and Browns had issued press releases.

“Yeah, and there are conditions that go with that and so forth, and until everything gets set — it’s a work in progress," he said. "We’re not there yet.”

According to NFL Media's Mike Giardi, Gordon has yet to go through a physical with the Patriots, so perhaps, this is what Belichick is waiting for.

"There’s a certain process that an acquisition goes through and we’re in that normal process," Belichick said. "We’re not there yet and until anything is completed, I will refrain from commenting on it.”

Added Belichick: “Well, again, until it’s on the wire and until the transaction is completed, it’s not completed. Now, there’s a process that doesn’t just happen in 20 seconds. It’s a process that is normal for trades that you go through and that’s part of what we are going through.”

Belichick typically holds a conference call with reporters Tuesday, so maybe then he will be willing to speak of the deal and his newest wide receiver.
