FOXBORO -- It was clear to everyone -- players on the field, fans in the stadium, and viewers at home -- that Philip Rivers was extremely frustrated in Sunday's AFC divisional round loss to the Patriots.

Whether it was complaining to officials or yelling at his teammates, he was visibly frustrated pretty much the entire game.

The Patriots defense took great satisfaction in their 41-28 win.

“I was kind of laughing at [him] getting frustrated," defensive tackle Adam Butler said. "It was kind of funny.”

Rivers was hit seven total times and sacked twice.

“You got a 300-pound guy running clean at you unblocked. I mean, c’mon, I think we’d all be frustrated at that," Butler said. "But it wasn’t just me. It was everybody that got pressure on him. And that’s frustrating.”

Cornerback Stephon Gilmore noticed it, too.

“Yeah, I think we did," he said. "Being physical with the receivers and our pass rush getting there, that was what it was about.”

Gilmore added: "He was getting frustrated a little bit. He made some big throws too, so we were just able to make more plays than they did.”

Rivers finished 25-for-51 with 331 yards, three touchdowns and an interception, but almost all of that came in garbage time when the Chargers scored 14 meaningless points.
