The NFL schedule will officially be released Wednesday night, but as usual there will be leaks ahead of time -- and one involves the Patriots.

According to multiple reports, the Patriots will host the Steelers on Sunday Night Football to open the year. It was known ahead of time that would be the case, just the team was not known. The NFL is celebrating its 100th anniversary, so the Packers and Bears will open the season on Thursday night, which is typically when the defending Super Bowl champs play.

The Patriots have played the Steelers in five straight seasons and have dominated the matchup recently. Including the playoffs, the Patriots have won nine of the last 12 meetings, but Pittsburgh won last year.

Nick Underhill of The Athletic, also is reporting the Patriots will have five primetime games, including the opener. The others are: Oct. 10 vs. Giants (Thursday), Oct. 21 at Jets (MNF), Nov. 3 at Baltimore, and Dec. 1 at Houston. Jeff Howe, also of The Athletic, says the Patriots will travel to Miami in Week 2, host the Jets in Week 3 and travel to Buffalo for Week 4.

The schedule won't officially come out until 8 p.m., but don't be surprised if it's all leaked ahead of time.
