Brian Flores reportedly ‘near, if not at the top’ of Dolphins’ list for new head coach

Josh McDaniels will be staying in New England, but what about Brian Flores?

Flores reportedly met with the Browns, Packers, Broncos and Dolphins last weekend, and things are starting to become more clear. Green Bay hired Matt LaFleur, while the Browns reportedly have narrowed their search to Freddie Kitchens and Kevin Stefanski. In addition, in Denver apparently its decision will come down to Vic Fangio or Mike Munchak.

This leaves only one team left for Flores — the Dolphins — who are apparently very interested.

According to the Miami Herald, Flores is “near, if not at the top” of their list. Owner Stephen Ross and executive Chris Grier met with Flores last Friday and came away impressed. If it ultimately does go in that direction, Miami cannot officially hire Flores until the Patriots are eliminated from the playoffs.

Adam Gase was fired by the Dolphins the day after the season following three years with the organization.

If Flores were to leave, it could potentially open the door for Greg Schiano, who recently left Ohio State, to return to New England this time as defensive coordinator and work for good friend Bill Belichick. Schiano reportedly left the school to pursue NFL opportunities.

This certainly will be worth watching in the coming days.
