The Patriots took care of their special teams on Wednesday.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, Matthew Slater had his 2019 option picked up by the team and because of that earned a $400,000 roster bonus. This wasn't too much of a surprise, but more of a housekeeping move.

Slater will turn 34 years old next September and has spent his entire NFL career with the Patriots following being drafted in the fifth round of the 2008 draft.

The special teams captain is one of the unquestioned leaders inside the locker room.
