Julian Edelman put himself in elusive company Sunday against the Chargers.

By catching nine passes for 151 yards, Edelman moved into second place all-time in playoff receptions with 98. He passed Reggie Wayne in the game and now only trails Jerry Rice (151) for the most all-time. He's also now seventh all-time in playoff receiving yards with 1,175.

Tom Brady was very proud of his wide receiver a day later.

“Nothing surprises me with Jules," he said on Mut & Callahan Monday morning. "He’s as mentally and as physically tough as anyone that has played for the Patriots. It started with his upbringing and going to junior college and going to Kent State and transferring to the wide receiver position. Just worked and grinded. That is just him. That’s all he knows. It is a real blessing for him in a lot of ways. I have been around to see it all happen. I have so much respect and trust in Julian. I am so proud of everything he’s accomplished. It is just really amazing to see.”

The quarterback said people doubting Edelman over the years has only benefited him.

“I think that is a blessing because, again, it makes you work," he said. "You just remember when no one really thought about Julian as what he has become, except Julian. When you believe in yourself, that is a great lesson for all of us. You can accomplish a lot of things. Julian has always had a great belief in himself. He’s had an incredible career and I think yesterday was one of the best games he’s ever played at the biggest moment.

"That is when Julian is at his best, in the biggest moments.”

Edelman has received double-digit targets in his last nine playoff games and over his last 10 he is averaging 8.3 catches and 101.6 yards per game.
