Last season, Dont'a Hightower was ninth on the team in tackles, but yet will have a cap hit of almost $11 million next season.

According to NESN's Doug Kyed, the Patriots haven't yet approached the linebacker about a pay cut, and if they do he won't take one.

Although his numbers weren't there last year, he's still one of the biggest leaders on the defense. Also, he played in 15 games last season, which was the first time he played in more than 13 since 2013.

Hightower will turn 29 years old next month and has spent all seven years in the league with the Patriots.
