The Patriots were clearly desperate for wide receiver help last year, even after trading for Josh Gordon following Week 2.

According to multiple reports they were interested in Demaryius Thomas and Golden Tate at the trade deadline, but a new name surfaced this week. According to Fox Sports’ and The Athletic’s Jay Glazer, the Patriots tried to trade for Randall Cobb at some point last year.

It is worth noting Cobb is a free agent this offseason, and finished with 38 receptions for 383 yards and two touchdowns in nine games last year.

The Patriots will certainly be in the market for receivers this offseason and given the past interest, Cobb could certainly be in the mix.

Right now the only receiver who finished the 2018 season on the active roster who has a contract for 2019 is Julian Edelman.
