FOXBORO -- The Patriots appear to have found an insurance policy for second-year offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn and rookie tackle Yodny Cajuste.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Patriots plan on signing veteran offensive tackle Jared Veldheer later this week, which comes following a recent visit to Gillette Stadium.

The 31-year-old has played in 118 career regular-season games (113 starts) between the Raiders, Cardinals and Broncos. With Wynn and Cajuste being the only two players in place to potentially replace Trent Brown and LaAdrian Waddle, it seemed a veteran presence was needed.

The timing also isn't a surprise as if the deal comes after Tuesday, it will not count towards the compensatory pick formula.
