FOXBORO -- The Patriots appeared to be set at the cornerback position, but maybe they feel otherwise.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the team worked out free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland on Tuesday. He's one of the best cornerbacks still on the market.

The 26-year-old has spent the only four years of his career with the Redskins where he's totaled eight interceptions and 60 pass deflections.

Breeland agreed terms with the Panthers on a three-year deal in March, but failed his physical due to suffering cut his foot while on a visit to the Dominican Republic that later became infected. The contract became void and he still remains a free agent.

The Patriots currently have Stephon Gilmore, Eric Rowe, Jason McCourty, Cyrus Jones, Jonathan Jones, JC Jackson, Keion Crossen and Ryan Lewis competing at the cornerback position.
