The Patriots brought back punter Ryan Allen earlier in the week, and now it appears they are working to bring back kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

According to NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran, Gostkowski and the Patriots have made progress towards a new deal.

Gostkowski, 35, signed a four-year deal with the team in 2015 worth $17.2 million, which made him the highest-paid kicker at the time.

Although he's missed some kicks in some big games of late, he's still one of the top-five best kickers in the NFL.

Perhaps with the cap space freed up Friday morning with Stephon Gilmore's restructure, a deal with Gostkowski can get done sooner rather than later.
