It wasn't the smoothest offseason for Rob Gronkowski, but now less than a month until training camp, the tight end is ready to go.

“Yes, I am super excited about the upcoming season," he said to Willie McGinest on NFL Total Access Monday night. "It is going to be fun. We got another year. Another training camp, always a grind. Have to get yourself through that. And then, just excited for the season, man. You know how it goes, another year down. You know what to expect now going into Year 9. You know how to do it. I kind of feel that is always good to have in the back of your mind. You know how it goes down, you know what to do. Super excited for this year.”

Immediately following the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, Gronkowski wouldn't commit to playing this season, but after some time away to enjoy himself he ultimately decided in April following a meeting with Bill Belichick and agent Drew Rosenhaus that he was all-in for the 2018 season in New England.

The 28-year-old said he needed that time away.

“Yes, I am refreshed," Gronkowski said. "You know after the season, long seasons, you know how your body can feel and everything. I just wanted to see where I was at and see how I can get my body feeling, see if I can handle it and endure it again. I feel like I am super ready, man.”

As for the expectations for the season, it's what they always have been with the Patriots -- get to the end.

“It is to get back to where we were [the Super Bowl], no doubt about that," Gronkowski said. "And you know, the basic — we’re taking one minute at a time, one day at a time, one opponent at a time. You just have to live by that. I love living like that, man. You do have to take one day at a time and it is true, you have to take one week at a time, one opponent at a time. Obviously, the high expectations are to get back to where we were.”

The first day of training camp is scheduled for July 26.
