On Sunday, the Patriots claimed two wide receivers --  Amara Darboh and Chad Hansen -- as the depth at the position was quite thin.

Speaking to reporters on a conference call Monday, Bill Belichick discussed the additions.

"Well, we looked at both players last year as part of the draft process, also saw them in preseason this year – well, Hanson in preseason this year – and they were available," he said. "So, we’ll take a look at them, see how it goes."

Darboh was Seattle's third-round pick in last year's draft and appeared as a reserve in all 16 games last year and totaled eight receptions for 71 yards. Hansen was drafted by the Jets in the fourth-round in 2017 and played in 15 regular-season games with one start, finishing with nine receptions for 94 yards.

It will be a challenge getting them ready for Week 1, but the team does have a few extra days.

"Well, we have a little bit of extra time this week, not a whole lot, and so we’ll just see how quickly that can or can’t happen," Belichick said. "I’m not really sure. So, we don’t have any background with these players other than from college, which we’re a long way away from that. So, we’ll just take it day-by-day, go through the process and see how it comes along. Again, our expectations are just, again, short-term. Not trying to plan out anything other than where we are today, where we are tomorrow, see where we are the next day and just see how all that comes together."

It would seem like one of them will need to be active as the only other true receivers on the depth chart are Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson.
