NFL analyst and WFAN host Boomer Esiason joined Kirk & Callahan Monday morning to discuss the Patriots' Week 2 loss to the Jaguars and all the other action around the league.

Wide receiver continues to be an issue for the Patriots with the lack of depth, and the team continues to bring in players to see if they can help. Kenny Britt reportedly is the latest, as he will workout for the team Monday after being released over the summer.

It's hard to have a discussion about the lack of depth without bringing up Dez Bryant, who still remains a free agent. But, Esiason doesn't believe he's a fit.

“I don’t know about that because he’s not what he was five years ago," he said. "He’s probably more of a headache than what he is worth, to be honest with you. I know he’s out there and he’s yapping, and Josh Gordon is yapping now. These guys have no self-awareness.”

As it relates to the Patriots defense, Esiason said Sunday's performance against Blake Bortles was alarming.

“The interesting thing was Jacksonville was not 100 percent, either," he said. "They lost their top receiver. They lost their No. 1 running back in Leonard Fournette. They lost one of their top offensive tackles yesterday. That makes it even more alarming for me. You think about what Nick Foles did to the Patriots defense in the Super Bowl and what Blake Bortles did here in Week 2, you have to be a little bit concerned where this Patriots defense is right now.”

The Patriots will take on the Lions in Detroit next Sunday night.
