NFL analyst and WFAN host Boomer Esiason joined Kirk & Callahan Tuesday morning for the first of his weekly appearances this season and discussed the Patriots and the 2018 season.

Esiason predicts it will be much of the same for the Patriots, especially with Tom Brady, Josh McDaniels and Bill Belichick all returning, but he did seem to indicate their record will not be as good as in recent years. He predicted somewhere around 10-6, 11-5 at worst.

“I think they are in the AFC East and I think they are going to be just as good as they always are," Esiason said. "They definitely start with what I believe is at least five wins within the division and they usually go .500 outside of the division or whatever. They are still going to be around 10-6, 11-5 at worst. I know that they start off with two very difficult teams — the Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"It’s Belichick, it’s Brady, it’s Josh McDaniels. That triangle at the top of what they do is pretty amazing. They are focused and the one thing I love more about Bill Belichick than any other coach in any other sport is it’s basically no days off and do your job. It’s pretty simple: Do not get bogged down by the outside distractions, which have been many for New England of course. But, at the end of the day, that mantra has basically made them into the greatest team this league has ever seen.”

New England went 13-3 last year, 14-2 in 2016 and then 12-4 the four seasons before that.

Esiason also touched on the entire NFL and for more on that, listen to the complete interview below.
