Over the last several years, Bill Belichick has referred to Patrick Chung as one of the best players in the NFL and now he's backing it up.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Patriots have extended Chung's contract for one more season so he will now be on the roster until the end of the 2021 season.

Despite being 31 years old, the safety continues to play at a high level and is one of the most important players on the entire defense. He's also one of the toughest, playing through injuries seemingly every game.

He did break his arm in the Super Bowl, but is expected to be fully ready for training camp.

Besides Chung, the Patriots have Devin McCourty, Duron Harmon and Obi Melifonwu as safeties, which makes it one of the best positions on the entire team.
