FOXBOROUGH -- While the Patriots beat the Panthers 10-3 in the third preseason game Thursday night, the biggest story of the day was Patrick Chung being indicted for possession of cocaine in New Hampshire.

The Patriots released a statement earlier in the day which read: “We are aware of the reports regarding Patrick Chung. We will not be commenting while his judicial proceedings take place.”

But, that didn't mean it wasn't a topic following the game.

Chung wasn't on the sidelines like he was the previous two games, so Bill Belichick was asked if it was injury related or due to what happened Thursday?

"Pat hasn't played the whole preseason," the coach said quickly.

Clearly, there was a message not to discuss the matter as several players declined to comment, but one Patriots player did lend his support -- Duron Harmon.

Harmon has played with Chung for many seasons and the two appear to be very close.

“Obviously, you know, we can’t really talk too much because it’s an ongoing investigation. But I mean, Pat knows everyone in here loves him," he said. "We love the energy he brings every single day. He’s a leader. He’s a captain. Whatever he’s going through, we know he’s going to get through because we’re going to help him get through it.

"And at the end of the day, that’s our guy. That’s our captain, and we love him. And we’re just hoping the best for him.”

Chung is scheduled to be arraigned next Wednesday.
