FOXBORO -- The Patriots have apparently voted on their captains for the 2018 season and there were a few surprises.

According to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe, the six captains are Patrick Chung, James White, Tom Brady, Devin McCourty, Matthew Slater, and David Andrews. Chung and White are first-timers, while Duron Harmon, Rob Gronkowski and Dont'a Hightower were not re-elected.

Harmon was a captain last year for the first time, while Hightower and Gronkowski were captains the last two years. Harmon had his incident this past offseason in Costa Rica, while Gronkowski had his moments this offseason (Monster press conference) that were un-captain like. The Patriots will open with the Texans Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.
