Following Jimmy Garoppolo being traded from the Patriots to the 49ers in 2017, it was learned Bill Belichick would text his former backup quarterback following each of his wins later that year.

Listen to your team news NOW.

Clearly, Belichick was a huge fan of the quarterback and some have speculated it's why he traded him to a good situation in San Francisco and only received a second-round pick in return.

So, do the pair still text to this day? It appears so.

“It’s every now and again," Garoppolo said to reporters at Super Bowl Opening Night in Miami on Monday. "There’s no real rhyme or reason to it. It is just whenever he feels like it. Whenever he does, it’s always a honor.”

He added: “Just congratulations, things like that. Keep the thing going. Coach (Belichick and I), we had a great relationship. Great guy. Very honest. Very straight forward. I always appreciated him for that.”

Garoppolo wouldn't reveal much else, though.

“Emoji's, do you think he uses them?" Garoppolo joked. "He’s a big SnapFace guy, I know.”

The 49ers quarterback also said Tom Brady reached out to him ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs.

Garoppolo is 21-5 overall since taking over as the 49ers' starting quarterback.
