It's that time of the year again.

The NFL trade deadline is next Tuesday and as always the Patriots are one of the teams in the league who could make a deal. There are several positions on the roster that could be upgraded, so it would not be a surprise in the least to see the team make a move.

Appearing on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria Monday, Bill Belichick noted every team in the league knows the Patriots are open to trading.

“As you know, a trade is a two-way street, so you have to have a trade partner, but I would say in our case, probably the other 31 teams, probably excluding the ones in our division that we’re probably not going to deal with them, but the other teams in the league I think they know that we are willing to trade," he said. "If they have a player for whatever reason they want to trade, in all honesty usually we get a call because we are a team that trades. There are some teams that do, some that don’t. I am not saying we’d make a lot of trades, but if the situation was right we would certainly consider it. We’ve made our share, so I would say for the most part we hear from teams if they have a player that there is interest in.

"Sometimes we initiate it based on whatever the set of circumstances are. Generally, we hear from other people. Unless there is something we identify that we feel they are not considering it, but if you put something on the table maybe they would consider it. There are some situations that could come up like that.”

Belichick also was asked about Sony Michel and if the team will need to do something with the running back position, but he said they will wait and see. It's worth noting Michel is reportedly being considered week-to-week with a knee injury after a MRI revealed no structural damage.

“We’ll take a look at that over the next day or two so when we start practicing for Buffalo we will be ready to go," he said. "We’ll look at our options and see what the best thing is. See how long we think Sony might be out and again, whatever our other options are.”

The Patriots will travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills next Monday night.
