FOXBORO -- The Patriots continued their week of transactions on Thursday.

Offensive lineman Cole Croston was signed to the practice squad, while safety David Jones was released. Croston was just let go on Tuesday from the 53-man roster to make room for two players added this week -- Obi Melifonwu and Albert McClellan.

Croston started the year on the practice squad, but was promoted to the active roster on Sept. 15. He came to the Patriots as an undrafted free agent last year and spent the whole year on the 53-man roster, playing in just three games. Being in his second year, the Patriots seem to like him as a developmental player.

Jones spent all of last year on the Patriots practice squad, and had been on the practice squad this year since Sept. 26.
