Rex Burkhead dealt with injuries last year, his first season in New England, and it looks like he'll have to again this year.

According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Burkhead has a slight tear in his knee, but it has been deemed a minor injury and he will be able to play through it. Since it's the preseason, there's really no need to push it. He hasn't played in a preseason game and hasn't practiced in well over a week.

Burkhead played in 10 games last year and finished with 264 yards rushing and five touchdowns, while adding 254 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

The 28-year-old figures to play a major role in the backfield if healthy, especially the first four weeks when he could be used as a receiver with Julian Edelman out.
