Dont'a Hightower usually doesn't play much special teams, but the Patriots saw something against the Bears and it paid off.

The Patriots linebacker blocked a punt, which was recovered by linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who returned it 29 yards for a touchdown. This gave the Patriots a 31-24 lead at the time and was arguably the turning point in the game. It was the first blocked punt of his career and also the first blocked punt returned for a touchdown by the Patriots since 1996.

It marks the second time in his career that he has earned a Player of the Week Award, as he earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 6 of 2016.

This is the first Player of the Week award for the Patriots this season.
