The Patriots made a roster move a day after their first preseason game.

New England has signed defensive end Keionta Davis and in the corresponding move released defensive back Dwayne Thomas.

Davis, 23, was a two-time All-American at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. The 6-foot-4, 260-pounder, finished his college career with 31 sacks, second in school history. Last year he was named a first team All-American after finishing with 10.5 sacks and 44 total tackles.

The move was made likely to give the team another body at defensive end, as it is currently fairly thin.
