CHARLOTTE -- There will be an opportunity for a few of the Patriots tight ends lower on the depth chart to shine Friday night in the third preseason game.

According to multiple reports, Jacob Hollister will not play in the game.

This should open the door for players like Dwayne Allen and Will Tye to see extended playing time, and in Tye's case potentially make a case for a roster spot. As of now, it seems like Rob Gronkowski, Allen and Hollister will be the three tight ends to make the team, but if Tye stands out Friday he could make things interesting.

Other players who likely won't play due to injury include Rex Burkhead, Sony Michel and Marcus Cannon.
