Patriots preseason ratings down from 2017

There's been a noticeable lack of buzz with the Patriots this summer and the ratings from the first preseason game back that up.

According to Kirk & Callahan, Thursday's Patriots-Redskins game had an 11.7 rating. Last year, the first preseason game against the Jaguars had a 14.5 rating. While those are two massive ratings, especially for the preseason, it is notable they are down this year from last.

It's worth noting Tom Brady didn't play in either game, but Jimmy Garoppolo did play last year. More people likely would tune in for Garoppolo, but not Brian Hoyer.

With next Thursday's game being a Super Bowl rematch with the Eagles, it wouldn't be a surprise to see that number go up.
