FOXBORO -- The Patriots did everything they could to help Josh Gordon.

According to ESPN, the team had an "elaborate security plan" with Gordon to help avoid the temptations that eventually got him suspended last week. The wide receiver was suspended for violating the terms of his reinstatement, and according to Ian Rapoport, it was more than just marijuana.

The ESPN report added the Patriots believe Gordon eluded Patriots security during the Patriots' bye week, which was Nov. 18. New England assigned members of the organization to be with him at all times, which would make sense if the slipup did occur during the bye week.

Gordon played in 11 games with the Patriots and had 40 receptions for 720 yards and three touchdowns.

Without Gordon, the Patriots now have a wide receiver depth chart of Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson.
