FOXBORO -- Despite it being the bye week, the Patriots have apparently made a few roster moves.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, rookie cornerback Duke Dawson has been activated to the active roster from injured reserve and linebacker Nicholas Grigsby and running back Kenjon Barner have been released. The team still has one open roster spot.

Wednesday was the deadline to activate Dawson (hamstring) off injured reserve, where he's been since Week 1. The second-round pick will now compete for playing time at cornerback.

There wasn't really much use for Barner now that Sony Michel is back and Grigsby has struggled on special teams at times of late. It's also worth noting the Patriots special teams rank close to last in the league, which is very unusual for them.

It would not be a surprise if more moves were coming between now and the Jets game in two weeks.
