FOXBORO -- The Patriots will be thin at the running back position Thursday against the Colts.

According to the NFL transaction wire, the team has released running back Kenjon Barner to make room for Julian Edelman on the active roster. This means the team will only have two active backs against the Colts in Sony Michel and James White.

Barner recorded three carries for 11 yards in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. He's also played for the Eagles and Panthers over the course of his six year NFL career.

It seems likely another move at the position will come in the coming days, as the team cannot continue with just two backs.
